Sorry about the irregular posting!

March 18th, 2015

Or entirely lack there of.  I’m seriously sorry for my lack of posts in my How-Tos (and also missing my designer of the month).  I’ve been crazy busy working both my part time jobs and trying to prepare for KitsuneKon, which officially starts in 2 days.  I get to start setting up tomorrow night, as I am a vendor <3.  While I’m super excited for the convention, I have also been stressing out big time.

I hope to resume posts next week, starting with a review of KitsuneKon.  I wont say when (only because I’m never good about keeping dates it seems), but it -will- happen!

In the mean time, feel free to follow me at  and you’ll be able to see what’s been up in between posts :).

Hope to see lots of fun people this weekend!

Update: March!

March 5, 2015

Holy crap it is March already (and has been for 4 full days).  Wasn’t it just January like…yesterday?  I swear, as I get older, my perception of time is getting faster and faster.  Which means the 15 days left until KitsuneKon are going to go by really fast and that is kind of scary!

(I am internally crying right now)

There is a LOT a lot to do yet, not only making, but also prep wise before this convention happens.  Originally, goal was to make a few tutus.  I have a feeling that may not happen as much as I’d like it to.  May still goal for some rainbow ones or basic black ones but…..not 100% on that.  At this time, I really feel like “no” is the answer for that one.  Instead, something a little smaller scale and easier to make faster are my armwarmers.  I probably wont get too crazy with them – just some basic ones.  Hopefully.  I don’t even know anymore.

I do know I will have lots of scale earrings, chokers, a scale bra (maybe 2), already pre-made armwarmers that I haven’t sold yet, various other jewelry pre made that hasn’t been sold yet, and a few things mom wants me to sell for her.

Annnnnnnnnd now it’s time to go.  Promptly!  Time’s awasting!

Postpone on Part III of Collection How-To

Hello my lovely readers!  For those of you waiting anxiously for Part III: Croquis and Sketches, unfortunately, I have to move it to next week as….I know I will definitely not finish it for this week haha.  I haven’t had a chance to create my own sketches that I’ll be using as examples.  As part of a New Year’s Resolution, I thought I would try to have more time management, but right now it’s still pretty difficult for me to manage.  It’s really tough to juggle two part time jobs and try to develop Crimson Star Emporium at the same time.  Just not enough hours in a week! T_T

In the mean time, I will have a few shorter posts out this week in order to compensate for that. ❤

Also, if you are looking for some fun Wisconsin conventions to check into this year, definitely look at KitsuneKon and NoBrandCon.  They’re smaller conventions, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t any fun!  I’ll be vending at both of them too~  A little info about both of them:

KitsuneKon: (

  • March 20-22, 2015
  • Held at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, WI
  • $30 Pre Reg until 2/28/15, or $40 at the door
  • Last year’s attendance was around 2200 (I think.  I know we maxed out the hotel, and unfortunately we had to turn some people away.  Luckily we have a muuuuuch higher cap at the KI Convention Center, hence the move from Appleton).

NoBrandCon: (

  • April 24-26
  • Held at The Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire, WI
  • $30 Pre Reg until 3/24/15, or $35 at the door
  • I’m not entirely sure what last year’s attendance was.  I think it was also around 2k.

Hope to see you guys there 🙂

January 4th, 2015

Hey everyone!  Sorry for falling off the face of the earth for my blog, since June of last year.  Everything was crazy busy and I lost track and focus – I had no plan and I was spread too thin.

This year, though, will be different.  I am going to make an effort to be more engaged with my audience and many other things.  I’ve already taken steps to better plan out the blog (no…seriously….you should see the spreadsheet I have with my plan haha).  My goal is to start with at least two posts per week and go from there.  Some weeks may have more, as I get more comfortable at this.

I am completely done with school now.  I have my Bachelors of Arts in Fashion Design from Mount Mary University (graduating Magna Cum Laude and in the Honors Program).  I also attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to obtain a Certificate in Entrepreneurship.  It was nice, because I only had to take 15 credits to get the certificate. (Getting straight A’s in my 5 classes was pretty nice too~).

So let’s go to it, shall we?

I have a few hopes and goals for Crimson Star Emporium this year (I’ll post another list at the end of the month for some of my personal goals).

  1. Extend Product Lines
    1. Add additional scale clothes and accessories.  This includes varying loincloths, armors (like epaulettes), glow in the dark, and more.
    2. Additional hair accessories (no idea yet, I just know I want to haha).
  2. Add Product Lines
    2. No seriously, I will
    3. It’ll be fun stuff like tulle skirts, peasant blouses, and many more.
    4. Handmade Paper
    5. Buttons (I have about 15 ish designs ready to go now; plan to have more by the time KitsuneKon rolls around in March)
  3. Create a 4~6 piece collection for Fall/Winter 2015
    1. In helping me do this, I will be doing blog posts on how to create a fashion collection (which will help me prep for my own)
    2. ETA is probably sometime around September/October at the earliest
  4. Try to add at least 1 or 2 more conventions to vend at
    1. Attending KitsuneKon (March 20~22, in Green Bay, WI) in the vendor hall
    2. Awaiting to see if I get confirmation for NoBrandCon (April 24-26, in Eau Claire, WI) in vendor hall
    3. Possibly Geek.Kon (August 21-23, Madison, WI), not sure if going for AA or Vendor Hall
    4. Thinking about maybe Ramen Con (September 18-20, Merriville, IN) not sure if AA or Vendor Hall
    5. Possibly any others that may come up.  Don’t want to drive more than 4 hours to get to one
  5. Get a legit website to host everything.  Not sure the likely hood of this one this year, but we’ll see how far I can get

KitsuneKon, progress, and a lot going one

“To love an idea is to love it a little more than one should.”

Jean Rostand

Originally, I had hopes of updating at least once a week, but it’s escaped me these past few.  There have been many things going on and little time to remember to come on here and update you all!  So let’s start!

First off, KitsuneKon was relatively a success!  I didn’t make as much as Anime Milwaukee, but there weren’t as many attendees, so that’s understandable 🙂  Still did pretty good, though, and it’s going toward my Study Abroad Italy trip (well…part of it is.  Some of it is going towards the purchase of more leather for my collection.  I underestimated).  I had a lot of fun at KitsuneKon, and I hope I can go again as either an artist, or a vendor, next year.  I’m hoping to delve into the vendor scene with DaishoCon, although I need to seriously think about it.  I was to start creating clothing, and I feel DaishoCon is cheap enough for vendor space that I can explore this idea.  (I mean, I proved that I have more than enough to sell for just an artist table.  A vendor space would be awesome 😀 )

Secondly, I’ve been pretty busy with my collection.  As of today, I have all of Sarah’s outfit (outside hemming the pants) completely done.  So that means a leather vest, a linen tunic, and a pair of jodhpur pants.  I also have my jodhpur bloomer things and most of my peasant blouse done.  Just have to hem the sleeves, adjust the elastic at the top, and hem the bottom.  Cassie’s pants are almost done: need to sew down belt loops, hem, and hand sew skirt hook and eye.  Then I need to finish drafting her coat and apron and get those cut out.  Joe’s outfit just needs buttons and a hem for the coat, and I have to draft a par of pants from scratch.  Hoping I can get it done and make a quick trip home Thursday in order to get ahead on that.

@___@ A little less than a month to get everything done in time for Jury.  I also want to make some awesome fascinators for my women and idk what for Joe’s outfit.  Either way.

Picture time!

Sara modeling Sarah’s (confusing no?) Leather vest. I’m so proud of myself ;__;

Blouse and Pants thus far. Not too flattering yet, but it will be when I make my vest harness.
